Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) was established in October 1979 as a professional forum for Pakistani doctors and has grown into one of the leading organizations of healthcare professionals in the country. PIMA is committed to promoting professional excellence, ethical values, and Islamic guidance in medical practice.

For the past 47 years, PIMA has fostered excellence in healthcare through continuous professional development, training workshops, seminars, and educational programs, encouraging adherence to Islamic values among its members. Every Pakistani doctor registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) is eligible to join.

PIMA serves humanity without discrimination, both nationally and internationally, with a strong focus on disaster response, healthcare delivery in underserved areas, and public health awareness programs promoting preventive care. At the international level, it engages in humanitarian relief and academic initiatives, including support for Gaza through medical supplies.

The association has a total membership of 6,380, including medical students who join as associate members, and operates through 65 local units nationwide, with organized provincial structures across all provinces, as well as in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. PIMA also runs an active Women Branch to support and engage female doctors and students, an Associate Members & Medical Students Branch for young professionals, and a Dentistry Branch focusing on dental healthcare initiatives.
